Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major, K. 216
Marc Albrecht & Gothenburg Symphony – Recorded by GSOPlays
German violinist Arabella Steinbacher has firmly established herself as one of today’s leading violinists on the international concert scene, performing with the world’s major orchestras. Ms. Steinbacher’s career was launched in 2004 with an extraordinary and unexpected debut in Paris, when she stepped in on short notice for an ailing colleague and performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Sir Neville Marriner. Her diverse and deep repertoire includes more than thirty concertos for violin. Here she plays Mozart’s Violin Concerto # 3 with Marc Albrecht leading the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Steinbacher is using the Sam Franko set of cadenzas he wrote for Mozart’s Violin Concerto in G-major K. 216 which has become a standard part of the concert repertoire, more so than all of the numerous other cadenzas that have been written for this piece. As an encore after Mozarts Violin Concerto No 3, Arabella Steinbacher gave Fritz Kreisler’s Recitativo and Scerzo-Caprice, which you can find here:
